It was an evening of glitz and glam for the team at Hog Roast Banff as they found themselves hosting a prestigious black tie event- the local journalism awards. An annual event that sees top journalists from the region, come together for a night of reflection, celebrations and congratulations, the journalism awards are organised by a woman named Emily, a Video Journalist. With over three decades of experience within the field of journalism, Emily is responsible for everything, from picking the winners of the prizes to picking the food menu.
The team from Hog Roast Banff spoke with Emily about all the different requirements she had for the night. Obviously these awards are prestigious, and the event, it’s environment and its food choice needed to reflect that. We therefore suggested one of our most lavish menus, that includes a three course meal, as well as canapes served by friendly waiting staff. In addition Emily also requested that our staff be on hand with complimentary glasses of champagne to save overloading the bar at the venue.
The event took place at a large, local hotel with a big function room. We arrived hours in advance of the guests to begin all the preparations. The chef set to work butchering the Hog, and placing it on the machine for roasting, before doing all necessary prep for the starters, canapes and desserts. meanwhile our catering assistants and waiting staff, set about decorating the room, adorning the walls with banners, laying the tables with exquisite displays as well as cutlery and napkins, and lighting candles to create a nice atmosphere.
When guests began to arrive later in the evening, our waiting staff roamed with canapes and glasses of champagne. Included amongst the canapes were the Pate Encroute and Wild Mushroom Bouchees. It wasn’t long before the guests were all seated and we were moving on with the first round of awards. In between the awarding of prizes, the different courses were served – a smoked Salmon starter followed by a Hog Roast mains and a zesty Lemon Tarte for dessert.
In the end, after the hardworking journalists had been rewarded for their efforts and enjoyed a Hog Roast, our team from Hog Roast Banff tidied away their mess discreetly and disposed of any waste offsite.
