Wildlife Photographers catered for by Hog Roast Huntly

Did you know? – The first photograph was taken nearly two hundred years ago in 1826, by a man named Joseph Nicéphore Niépce. His primitive camera was only able to capture a blurry image of his estate near Burgundy in France. Now however cameras are capable of capturing images in truly remarkable quality. Some photographers, like our most recent clients, here at Hog Roast Huntly, put their cameras to good use, by capturing amazing images of UK wildlife. This year, they were camping for two whole weeks in pursuit of their passion, and they asked us to provide a glorious feast for their last night in the wilderness.

Hog Roast HuntlyOur clients were a group of six professional wildlife photographers. They’d set up a base a camp to work from, and arranged all the details of their event with us in advance. When the day of the event came, our team from Hog Roast Huntly arrived on site, eight hours ahead of the serving time, to allow enough time for the slow cooking process, which today would be extra slow, due to the cold weather. Luckily our expert team know all about cooking in difficult conditions, and came equipped with their trusty gazebo. Of the six photographers, only one was on site to greet our team as the others were out shooting, and would return later.

Our catering assistant began setting up the gazebo, as well as laying the serving table with a tablecloth, napkins, disposable plates and cutlery. Our chef meanwhile, was busy butchering the hog and placing it on the machine for roasting. On the menu today was the Hog Roast, served in crusty bread rolls with a selection of sauces. The chef then prepared a selection of sauces, as the Hog slowly roasted crispy and golden. Its aroma had engulfed the campsite when the rest of the photographers returned.

Soon it was time to serve and our guests were hungry and keen to tuck into their feast. They all fell silent as they ate, utterly blown away by how fresh and tasty it was. We prepare all our food on site, from scratch, using only fresh ingredients – the key to our success. At the end of the night the team from Hog Roast Huntly tidied away their mess discreetly and disposed of any waste off site. The photographers thanked them for helping to make their last night, a special one.
