We still can’t get away with how hot the weather was last weekend. With temperatures in Scotland topping 32 degrees in some places, the country was sweltering. Even here in Aberdeen, where we teetered between the 29 and 30 degree mark, it was absolutely roasting.
When the weather is this hot, there’s not much else to do except hunker down and wait for the usual grey skies and rain showers to resume… NOT!
It’s a rare day that Scotland sees any sunshine, and while, of course, it’s important to stay sensible in high temps, it’s also a great excuse to enjoy being outdoors for a change. I don’t know about you, but I was starting to forget what my garden furniture looked like!
So, it won’t come as much of a shock to hear that the mini heatwave had Hog Roast Aboyne’s phones ringing off the hook. Everyone and their granny wanted a piece of us last weekend, and we delighted to serve as many customers and clients as possible.
Our most popular menu by far last weekend was – surprise, surprise – our Gourmet BBQ spread. Hosts and guests loved the variety on offer, which meant everyone had something delicious to dig into. And, let’s be honest, summer just isn’t the same without a proper barbie, now is it?
From beef burgers and gourmet sausages to spareribs, Thai chicken kebabs and even meat-free alternatives, Hog Roast Aboyne made sure every Aberdonian was properly cared for and well fed. We even served up cool and crunchy coleslaw and salads on the side, which were the perfect antidote to the heat.
But not everyone opted for a BBQ. Some of our clients decided to shake things up a bit from the norm by requesting a full on hog roast feast – and their guests were in their element. Gluten free rolls piled high with crackling, stuffing, pulled pork and applesauce? Honestly, nothing beats it!
