Hog Roast Crathie Celebrates The Open Championship!

Hog Roast CrathieOver the weekend, Hog Roast Crathie had the pleasure of catering what might be one of the most inventive garden parties we’ve been part of in a while. Eric – golf lover, brilliant host, and clearly a man with a plan – invited around 45 friends and family over to his place to watch the Golf Open Tournament out in the garden.

Now, this wasn’t just a case of setting up a screen and calling it a day. Eric went all out. We’re talking a proper projector setup, a DIY mini golf course winding between flower beds and patio furniture, and, yes – actual trophies for the winners. It was part party, part tournament, and a whole lot of fun for everyone involved.

Naturally, Hog Roast Crathie was there to keep everyone well-fed between swings, laughs, and dramatic putts.

We proudly presented our alfresco menu, which always draws a crowd. The centrepiece? A full hog roast, slow-cooked right there on-site using free-range pork. The smell alone had people drifting over before we’d even started carving. Golden crackling, tender meat… let’s just say no one left hungry.

It wasn’t just the hog, though. We dished up fluffy stuffing, applesauce, fresh garden salads, buttered new potatoes with chopped chives, and a really creamy coleslaw that didn’t hang around long.

For the plant-based guests (and a few curious meat-eaters), we had our BBQ jackfruit rolls – smoky, messy in a good way, and definitely not an afterthought.

To top it off, we put together a grazing table that stayed busy all day. Think crusty bread, the finest Italian cheeses, deli cuts, olives, fruit, and plenty of little things to pick at. It wasn’t fancy; it was just really, really good.

Dessert was a choice between profiteroles or a zesty tarte au citron. Nothing too heavy. Just the right note to end on.

And did we mention everything was served on eco bamboo plates with matching wooden cutlery? Not only was it better for the planet, but it kept the vibe casual, which suited the day perfectly.

All in all? Great food, great people, and a garden-turned-golf course. Huge thanks to Eric for having Hog Roast Crathie – we’d be back for a rematch in a heartbeat.
