For fans of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, March 25th is no ordinary day – it’s Tolkien Day! This cherished occasion marks the downfall of Sauron and the destruction of the One Ring, a moment that shaped Middle-earth forever. Across the globe, fans gather to celebrate, and this year, one devoted enthusiast took it to the next level with a feast straight out of the Shire.
Local fan Connor knew there was only one way to do Tolkien Day justice – with an epic gathering fit for hobbits, elves, dwarves, and men alike. His invitation encouraged guests to don their best Middle-earth attire, transforming the party into a scene that could have been lifted straight from the pages of Tolkien’s works. From noble elves in flowing robes to roguish rangers and cheerful hobbits, the costumes set the perfect tone for an evening of merriment. But no Tolkien-themed celebration would be complete without a feast – one that even Samwise Gamgee himself would have been proud to partake in. To bring this vision to life, Connor enlisted the help of Hog Roast Turriff!
Ensuring the food spread was as bountiful as a Hobbit’s pantry, Hog Roast Turriff crafted an indulgent menu packed with hearty, home-cooked fare. Guests were treated to an array of mouthwatering canapés, including mini fish and chips, smoked Scottish salmon, mini quiches, and even pan-seared fillet of beef. The charcuterie platters, brimming with Italian meats, cheeses, and rustic breads, kept everyone nibbling as they mingled, much like a festive gathering at The Green Dragon Inn.
When it was time for the main feast, Hog Roast Turriff pulled out all the stops. A whole-roasted sirloin with Yorkshire puddings and red wine gravy had the carnivores cheering, while a succulent hog roast with all the trimmings became the showstopper of the night. Even the vegetarian and vegan guests weren’t left out, with beautifully grilled vegetable kebabs making their rounds. And of course, no Hobbit feast is complete without po-tay-toes – buttery new potatoes tossed in fresh chives made for the perfect side, alongside fresh salads and creamy coleslaw.
With 50 devoted fans in attendance, the atmosphere was nothing short of magical. Lively music, hearty laughter, and an undeniable sense of camaraderie made this Tolkien Day celebration one for the ages!
