If you’re a Lord Of The Rings lover, then, like Michael, you’ll be counting down the days until Tolkien Day arrives. The good news is you don’t have long left to wait! Celebrating the life and works of high fantasy novelist J.R.R. Tolkien, Tolkien Day is an extremely important day for fans of the epic franchise.
Taking place on the 25th of March each year, which, as enthusiasts will know, coincides with the date of Sauron’s downfall, this annual holiday is an undeniably perfect excuse to meet up with fellow LOTR buffs and talk all things, Tolkien!
This year will mark a whopping 20 years since the first Tolkien Day celebration took place, and hoping to honour the long-standing tradition in a way that no one will forget, Michael has organised a LARPing event for himself and fans in the Aberdeenshire region.
Hundreds of fans have shown an interest in attending the event and are very much looking forward to re-enacting The Battle of the Black Gate, otherwise known as, The Battle of the Morannon, which is, of course, where Sauron famously meets his demise.
After the battle, the ravenous will be ravenous, so Michael has arranged for everyone to end the celebration with a stunning banquet, which Hog Roast Newtonhill’s catering team has been asked to provide.
Our team are delighted to have been chosen to manage this event and hoping to appeal to every palate, Hog Roast Newtonhill will be serving our Classic Hog Roast menu, which consists of a full-size pig roasted low and slow over real flames until cooked to absolute perfection. To us, perfection means gorgeous golden and crispy skin, tender and juicy meat, beautifully seasoned sage and onion stuffing and a sweet and punchy applesauce to finish.
We’ll also be including gluten-free rolls and wraps, an array of salads, mixed fries and crunchy gourmet coleslaw, along with an enticing vegan alternative: BBQ-pulled jackfruit rolls topped with vegan ‘slaw.
As Hog Roast Newtonhill’s signature spread, the guests certainly have a lot to look forward to, and we cannot wait to impress them with our mouth-watering food!
