Aberdeenshire might be home to Scotland’s Granite City, but the countryside here is just as jaw-droppingly gorgeous as anywhere else in our beautiful wee country. And when it comes to choosing the perfect wedding venue, brides and grooms are absolutely spoiled for choice! From stately manor houses to historic castles and everything in between, Aberdeenshire has a venue for every kind of love story.
At Hog Roast Newtonhill, we have the absolute pleasure of exploring our stunning region while doing what we love – serving up delicious food! And, last weekend, we got to experience a wedding venue like no other. Seriously, we’re still swooning!
Lucille and Evan – our fabulous bride and groom – picked a setting straight out of a fairytale. Imagine a romantic ballroom tucked away in the heart of the countryside, surrounded by towering pine forests, rolling hills, and babbling burns. Inside, this dreamy stone-walled venue was adorned with (wait for it) over 700 antlers, original oak floors, a roaring open fire, vaulted ceilings and an antique grand piano just begging to be played.
After exchanging their heartfelt vows, Lucille and Evan were the first to dive into Hog Roast Newtonhill’s legendary feast! We’re talking slow-roasted pork, cooked to crispy, golden-brown perfection on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth tender on the inside. And let’s not forget the dynamic duo – our signature sage and onion stuffing and tangy-sweet applesauce – taking the flavour game to the next level.
Rounding out the feast, we served a colourful spread of fresh garden salads, gourmet coleslaw, and buttery new potatoes that had everyone piling their plates high. Not to mention, a selection of freshly baked bread rolls and wraps that meant guests could build their ultimate feast.
And for the non-meat-eating crew? Our grilled veggie skewers with creamy tzatziki dip were a hit. Plus, each table was treated to a drool-worthy antipasti platter, loaded with Italian cured meats, artisanal cheeses, rustic breads, olives, and fresh fruits; perfect for a light bite between dancefloor shenanigans!
As for the big finale, Hog Roast Newtonhill served a mountain of profiteroles smothered in silky chocolate and dreamy cheesecakes with a buttery biscuit base. If heaven had a taste, this was it.
Lucille and Evan’s wedding was nothing short of magical, and we at Hog Roast Newtonhill were over the moon to be a part of it. Here’s to love, laughter, and plates piled high with delicious food!
