In Scotland, November 30th holds a special place in our hearts as we come together to celebrate the Feast of Saint Andrew, our patron saint. This cherished occasion is marked by music, dancing, and, of course, a bountiful spread of delicious food and drink!
This year, Hog Roast Kennethmont had the pleasure of contributing to the festivities, making the celebration even more memorable for our fellow Aberdeenshire residents.
For one of our recent clients, Peter, who organised a gathering of 40 of his closest friends and relatives, the Feast of Saint Andrew presented an opportunity to craft a bespoke and luxurious culinary experience. While some Scots opt for the traditional haggis, neeps, and tatties, Peter desired something a bit different, and together with our catering manager, we curated a menu that combined elegance with the rich flavours of the occasion.
The feast commenced with a sophisticated array of canapés, featuring smoked Scottish salmon on fresh brown bread and bite-sized beer-battered fish and chips with tartare sauce. The appetisers set the tone for the evening, teasing the taste buds with a fusion of traditional Scottish ingredients and contemporary flair.
Moving on to the starter, guests were treated to piping hot homemade soup accompanied by crusty bread rolls and butter, a comforting and wholesome beginning to the meal. The main course of spit-roasted lamb followed shortly after.
Hog Roast Kennethmont ensured the meat was expertly seasoned with garlic and rosemary for an extra burst of flavour. In addition, garlic and rosemary roast potatoes, alongside glazed seasonal market vegetables, formed a colourful and delectable ensemble that perfectly complemented the juicy and tender lamb.
The grand finale featured Hog Roast Kennethmont’s signature sticky toffee pudding and chocolate torte puds, leaving guests with a sweet aftertaste that lingered long after the plates were emptied. To wash down the delightful flavours, guests indulged in a dram of Peter’s special occasion whisky, adding an extra touch of warmth and tradition to the festivities.
Peter, couldn’t have been happier with how well the celebration went, and Hog Roast Kennethmont was delighted to play a part in making the Feast of Saint Andrew a truly fabulous and memorable night for all in attendance.
