When Scottish Weather Throws a Curveball, Hog Roast Inverbervie Remains Steady

Scotland is famed for a great many things, not least of all our weather. In fact, there’s even a running joke that if you ever come to visit, you should always pack a brolly, a winter coat and… suncream!

Yes, experiencing all four seasons in one day is far from being considered unusual, so if you’re organising an event in the ‘Land of the Brave’, you have to be ready for anything.

Lately, Aberdeenshire’s weather has been notoriously unpredictable. One moment the sun is splitting the sky, and the next? Pouring rain. It’s impossible to rely on the forecast, which can make things tricky for events that are already scheduled.

Thankfully, for one couple, Adam and Brie, Hog Roast Inverbervie was there to manage the catering on their wedding day last Saturday. Like many couples, they’d hoped a June wedding would mean a beautiful outdoor ceremony and alfresco dining on the grounds of a grand manor house. But, unfortunately, Mother Nature had other ideas…

Almost as soon as Hog Roast Inverbervie had finished setting up our equipment and catering gazebo, the rain came down in buckets, turning the grounds into muddy, squelchy marshes. Not exactly ideal for the guests wearing high heels!

With no time to waste, the celebrations were swiftly moved indoors. Hog Roast Inverbervie’s team adapted quickly, relocating everything to the large ballroom and preparing the hog roast, free-range chickens, and fresh market vegetables for the main course. As the meats slow roasted over a low flame, we wasted no time preparing the canapé selection of smoked Scottish salmon, pan-seared fillet of beef, mini pizzas, and mini quiches, all of which were served on bamboo boards alongside champagne and fresh fruit juice as guests arrived.

As the hall filled with over 150 guests, the enticing aromas from our station drew them in. They eagerly tucked into the canapés while Adam and Brie took their private photos, and waited in anticipation for the main buffet to be declared ‘open’.

Later, after the speeches, while everyone was settled and happily stuffing their faces with perfectly cooked pork and moist chicken, the couple expressed how delighted they were with Hog

Roast Inverbervie’s service. The quality of the food, our swift adaptability and our lively banter saved them a whole lot of stress and helped to make their big day even more magical.
