The Euros are on everyone’s mind right now, but they’re not the only sporting highlight this summer! With the school term coming to an end, kids across the country are eagerly participating in the beloved tradition of sports day.
It’s that time-honoured tradition where young athletes go head-to-head in everything from classic sack races and egg-and-spoon challenges to high-flying discus throws and hoop-shooting basketball games. It’s not just about winning medals and trophies; it’s about teamwork, pushing boundaries, and, let’s face it, getting a break from the classroom!
And speaking of sports day, Hog Roast Clatt recently had the pleasure of joining in on the action at a local primary school’s sports day extravaganza – and what a braw time we had!
The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) pulled out all the stops to make sure it was a day to remember, and that included bringing us on board to fuel up the hungry champions and their cheering squads.
Our fearless leader, Steve, and the whole Hog Roast Clatt crew arrived on-site well ahead of serving time, giving us plenty of time to cook up a storm and marvel at the kids’ impressive athletic feats.
As the day unfolded and champions were crowned, appetites grew as fierce as the competition. That’s where we came in, serving up a feast fit for champions. We catered to all tastes and dietary needs, offering gourmet sausages, chicken kebabs, sticky spareribs, and handmade beef burgers on gluten-free rolls with melting cheese. Veggie lovers rejoiced over our hearty veggie burgers and sausages, while sides like creamy coleslaw, zesty pasta salad, and crispy mixed fries completed the winning spread.
The feedback was music to our ears. Guests couldn’t stop raving about the flavours and freshness of our dishes. Many returned for seconds (and thirds!), proving that our food was as big a hit as the sports day itself.
In the true spirit of giving back, we made sure nothing went to waste. Leftovers were lovingly packed and delivered to a nearby care home, spreading joy beyond the sports field.
