Local Fundraising Event Catered By Hog Roast Ellon

When Alvin contacted Hog Roast Ellon a few weeks ago, it was to enquire about our catering services as he was organising a fundraising event at the pub where he is the landlord. We’ve spent years helping to make all kind of parties and events a great success, in many different types of venues, and for all sorts of numbers, as we cater both large groups of people (often several hundred guests) and just a handful if needed instead.

For this function, Alvin wanted to provide a hog roast for around a hundred Hog Roast Ellonpeople, from which we would make plenty of pigs in buns, as well as a vegetarian option for a possible few and salads for everyone. When it comes to options for special diets, we do our customers proud, as we want everyone to be able to eat and enjoy our wholesome food, and we’ve spent a long time ensuring this by catering various diets, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free. While our chefs can whip up all kinds of options, like stuffed mushrooms or peppers, a handmade quiche or veggie burgers, our most popular vegetarian dish is our veggie skewers, with chunks of halloumi cheese and various fresh vegetables including mushrooms, tomatoes, mixed peppers, red onion and courgette, all grilled to perfection and served with pitta bread and our Tzatziki dip. Alvin decided these kebabs would be the perfect vegetarian option for his event.

On the day of the fundraiser, our Hog Roast Ellon chef and assistants made their way to the pub venue and set up our equipment in the outdoor space. Before long, after preparing the locally-sourced meat from scratch, we were roasting a fat hog and it was sizzling away and filling the surroundings with amazing meaty smells.

Nearer to the time of service, we grilled the skewers, prepared some fresh salad dishes that would accompany the main courses, and readied the ingredients for the pigs in buns, including our own apple sauce and sage and onion stuffing.

Our Hog Roast Ellon pigs in buns went down a treat on this day, but the vegetarian guests also loved their skewers and everyone enjoyed the tomato and mozzarella salad, Greek salad and our homemade coleslaw too. All of our food was devoured with relish.
