Lucky students get to sample their new university and a Hog Roast Portlethen!

Every year, throughout the academic calendar, universities across the country open their doors to allow sixth formers and college students to come and have a look at their facilities and get a feel for the kinds of courses they offer, in the hopes that the students will to decide to study with them in the future. This year, one university had quite an edge over the competition as for their open day, they decided to hire the team at Hog Roast Portlethen to serve their wonderful pigs in buns to the potential students.

Hog Roast PortlethenThe team were first contacted by Barb, the office administrator for the creative campus. Barb had recently attended a wedding that Hog Roast Portlethen had catered for, where she acquired a business card on the strength of the wonderful food and service they had displayed. She wanted for our team to be stationed just outside the main entrance, where they would serve a Hog Roast with crusty bread rolls and a selection of sauces to anyone who wanted one. The event would take place all day, with well over 500 guests expected to attend, so she asked us to be ready to serve by 11AM.

It was an early start for the three man team, who were on site by 5:00AM in order to be ready for the serving time, and the sky was still dark as the chef butchered the hog, and the catering assistants set up the gazebo. As students began to arrive by 9AM, with the smell of the hog wafting through the air, guests were keen to try our food. So much so that by eleven, when it was time to serve, a queue had already formed. Whether it was before, or after they had explored their potential university campus and course curriculums, the prospective students and their parents, all loved our pigs in buns and marvelled at how fresh and tasty they were!

Barb deemed our stall a success and a major contribution to the success of the overall day – she knew those pigs in buns would be an ace up the university’s sleeve. At the end of the day, when all the students had left, there was nothing left to do for the team at Hog Roast Portlethen, but tidy away their mess discreetly and dispose of any waste off site.
